All riders make solid start at Sibiu Tour prologue

Today we saw the start of the 2022 Sibiu Tour with a prologue in the beautiful Muzeul Astra parkland. Our guys put in a superb display today, especially because they raced up against riders who were using time trial bikes and skinsuits.

Our track talent Kiaan Watts was the best of our bunch finishing in 55th just 13 seconds down on the winner Tim van Dijke (Jumbo-Visma) with Ukko Peltonen also setting the same time as Kiaan.

Just a second behind those two was Dylan Sunderland who put in a solid ride and keeps himself right up there for a possible tilt at the GC, meaning our options are very much open.

Tomorrow’s stage of 206.9km from Brezoi to Sibiu is likely to be a select bunch sprint and we are really motivated going into the first stage proper of the race in the stunning country of Romania.

Kiaan Watts: “It was a nice test to see where our legs are at against some super strong teams. It was good to see us hold our own with the resources we have and I look forward to some hard stages to come.”

Director Sportif, Florent Horeau: “I am very happy with the guys today as they really held their own against some of the top teams in the world on a tough prologue course. We are motivated for the upcoming stages with what should be 3 more days of very hard racing.”
