Dylan Sunderland still in the GC fight after stage one at Tour of Małopolska

Dylan Sunderland managed to finish in 11th place after a brutal summit finish on the opening stage of the Tour of Małopolska and is still in the fight for the overall.

It was a brutal day in the saddle for the riders as the Polish sun beat down on them from start to finish. The whole team controlled who went into the break as well as the time gap with a three-man group going up the road.

However, no teams helped the guys and the counter attack by Adria-Mobil’s Kristjan Koren meant the gap shrank with the break being caught early.

Dylan made it into a front split as the race headed towards the final climb of the day in Myślenice. Dylan tried an attack on one of the steepest gradients but was unable to get away. As the leaders opened up the sprint Dylan couldn’t match the pace and lost 13 seconds taking 11th on the day.

Dylan Sunderland – “The guys did an amazing job in the first half of the race and controlling in the final. I was good but unfortunately I didn’t have the legs in the final 500 metres of the climb.”

Director Sportif, Florent Horeau – “We had a plan today and the boys stuck to it. We acted as a united team around our leader, but in the end we lacked THE result. But, it will come. The state of mind is perfect and tomorrow is a new chance.”

We also welcomed two staff members from our sponsor Software Mind who came along for the ride in our cars as well as meeting the riders and taking home two bidons each.
