Our Spanish sprinter, Miguel Angel Fernandez kicks off our week in Turkey with a top 10 finish after a fast-paced opening stage. With a break of 6 quickly gaining a 4-minute advantage, the majority of the action was saved for the latter half of the 207km route. With 2 categorized climbs between the sprinters and a relatively flat finish, the battle really began as the breakaway was swept up after the first descent.Dylan Sunderland soon found himself in the leading group, helping to set a blistering pace up the final climb but their lead was soon swallowed up as the sprinter’s teams picked up the chase. Attention was then turned to preparing Miki for the sprint.

Fernandez: “Today was a quiet day in the peloton for me. I suffered a lot on the climb the last climb with 30km to go! At the end, the sprint was very fast and I was able to finish 8th, thanks to the whole team and their support.”
